Baojun today introduced its new vision for becoming a leading mobility provider in China with the launch of the RS-5 SUV and the global premiere of the RM-C concept vehicle.

Today’s event was held at the Shanghai International Fashion Center in partnership with GQ magazine, reflecting the vehicle brand’s new young, intelligent and connected core values.

“Baojun has experienced steady growth since its introduction in 2011,” said Mike Devereux, executive vice president of SAIC-GM-Wuling. “The RS-5 is the first in a series of new SUVs, MPVs and passenger cars from Baojun to meet the changing demands and rising expectations of our customers.”

The RS-5 is 4,570 millimeters long, 1,870 millimeters wide and 1,720 millimeters high, giving it class-leading interior space. Its 1.5-liter turbocharged engine is paired with an all-new CVT transmission, offering a smooth and powerful ride. Through the application of high-quality materials, the RS-5 provides a quiet and refined in-vehicle experience.

Based on Baojun's new advanced electronic architecture, the RS-5 is the brand’s first smart product that leverages the internet. It comes with the advanced Banma intelligent connectivity system along with Level-2 autonomous driving capability.

Users can enjoy voice interaction, remote control of functions via their smartphones, over-the-air software updates, and online payment and shopping capabilities. The RS-5 also has 14 driver-assist features, including advanced cruise control, for increased safety.

The RS-5 is the initial model adorned with the brand’s new diamond-shaped logo. It is priced from RMB 96,800 to RMB 132,800.

The RM-C is Baojun’s first concept vehicle. It showcases the new philosophy of the brand through its intelligent connectivity features.

“Intelligent connectivity differentiates the new Baojun from its competitors on the market,” said Xue Haitao, SAIC-GM-Wuling general manager of Sales. “The launch of the RS-5 has put us in a leading position in this important area.”
